“EP197: The Debut of Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality in Health Care, With Brian Peet, President of MediSolutions”
by Stacey Richter
Today I speak with Brian Peet, president of MediSolutions, and we talk about the use of virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) in health care today and its potential for the future. Both AR and VR are bidirectional tools with one main job: engage patients. Because while the patients are engaged, the environment is right for critical education a patient might need to understand how to pull off their treatment plan. Or, something I hadn’t thought about much, say a patient isn’t going to hear a word that anyone is saying because they’re too stressed out by their diagnosis, the situation, or maybe they are in pain. AR/VR can be used to help individuals become calm, reduce pain, and get them to a place where they are ready to take the next step in their health care journey.
