A HealthLeaders media report from November 2018 talked about private equity fleeing hospitals and looking to move those dollars, in some cases, into ambulatory investments. What can ambulatory practices do with those dollars? Well, it takes $2 million for a medium-sized physician-led accountable care organization (ACO) to buy the tech and infrastructure necessary to start up. Today I speak with Eric Weaver, SVP, Strategy and Transformation over at Innovista. We talk about operationalizing the move from fee for service (FFS) to value-based care (VBC), and mostly that adds up to excellent physician leadership, a strong vision and story, and an incrementalist mind-set.
